It’s scary to find ourselves in this pandemic, living our lives as in the science fiction movies I used to find so absurd. Beyond all health issues caused by this disaster, there is a huge overload on the system and a drastic change in habits and behaviors.
As a marketing person, I actually see a huge opportunity for business in these difficult times, for creative and cooperative companies, for a more transparent and compassionate business relationships, above all when talking about B2C market. I’m all for the motto: what doesn’t kill it, make it stronger.
We all find ourselves in a vulnerable situation, at home, at work and in the society. However, the same thing that put us apart is bringing us together more than ever.
During this quarantine the challenge is: How to save your small business in corona times?
GET online!!! You might say people are at home, but not only – people are online – more than ever: either looking for services, goods, entertainment, content or even to get away from the frustration of being isolated.
For business owners that wondered about digital transformation as an alternative, this option has became the only way to survive.
In Germany I have seen more centralized – platform focused – sharing and recommendation of services and products. Meanwhile, In Brazil, I see a lot of WhatsApp sharing and delivery services to rescue business.
Both approaches tell a lot how the consumers function in these different markets. However, people are changing – they have to change – and this is the opportunity to be there for them.
Here are some ideas on how you can increase the visibility of your small business these days:
– Activate and invest time and planning on your online channel (website, Facebook, Instagram, Google MyBusiness…)
– Make yourself reachable (email or telephone number) – people should be able to reach you from home
– Make partnerships (e.g. partner with a bakery to deliver your online sales)
If you still need some ideas on how to drag people’s attention online:
Go for 2 min-Videos (Instagram or Facebook)
– Share your business story (how it all started)
– Make a through your shop
– Present your team
– Bring people to give testimonials (from their home)
– Make a tutorial
Some techniques I have seem, through Facebook and WhatsApp reinforce what how knows about marketing already knew but creates different ways, formats and approaches.
Hope we all stay safe and survive this.
